Bruce Kasanoff identifies four principles for using social media in ways that actually benefit your business. Namely:
➤ Kindness First: Take the time to genuinely help others
➤ Be Provocative: This doesn’t mean “stir up debate,” but it does mean to take a solid stance on your opinions, rather than waffling back and forth. Know what you want to say, and stick with it.
➤ Be Memorable: Simplify your ideas. When you publish something on social, have one CLEAR idea you want to communicate. This helps you stick in the minds of your followers.
➤ Interact Online: This goes back to my opening discussion. Don’t be a broadcaster. Take the time to interact with people. Build relationships. Get off your own profile and start making connections.
What essential social media practices would you add to the list?
